Performance Guidelines
Guidelines for Guildings and Junior Guildlings may be found down below.

You know we’ve got some ground rules, so here they are — and please note that if your submission does not follow the guidelines, we will not consider it:
• As always, no Disney (we know, it’s a bummer)
• We do not have a requested dress code for all cabarets this time, but PLEASE do not wear a costume; the licensing that allows us to perform the songs strictly prohibits this
• Do not use logos from your chosen musical; the licensing that allows us to perform the songs strictly prohibits this as well
• Please send an email to playersguildmarketing@gmail.com once you’ve submitted so we have all the pertinent information including your name as you would like it shown in the video, the character name, show title, and song title
• We prefer the video to be horizontal, if at all possible — make sure to prop your recording device up so you’re not holding it. We also suggest checking the angle and doing a test recording to make sure you look your best. Shoot either straight on, or have the device slightly higher than you for the best results!
• As with our last time around, we may not be able to use your piece. We are looking for vocal and video quality and trying to make this look as professional as possible. Give it your best and blow us away!
• You can submit for all shows, but we cannot guarantee you will be featured in more than one (entirely dependent on the number and quality of submissions).
• Now that gathering restrictions are starting to relax, we would LOVE to see more creative duets, trios, etc. — whatever you are comfortable with doing, and while still following any guidelines in place at the time you will be recording
• We again will reach out to musicians if you need a piece recorded — just let us know via playersguildmarketing@gmail.com
• The performance list for each cabaret will be posted within two days of the end of the submission window
We are accepting submissions for the first ever Pajama Monologues! We’ve all been home more frequently these days and, if you’re like many of us, comfort has been the order of the day. But we’re all feeling the desire to get back on stage. Why not have the best of both worlds — perform your favorite classic monologue while dressed in your pajamas!
Pajama Monologues will broadcast on Wednesday, June 17. Your submission must be received by June 7 at 11:00 p.m. (For more submission information, see below.) You do not need to be a member of the Players Guild to participate.
Want some guidelines? We’ve got them. Please note that if your submission does not follow these guidelines, we will not consider it.
• Your monologue must be from the public domain. This is the perfect chance to brush up your Shakespeare (play or sonnet), dust off your Sophocles, or take a walk on the Oscar Wilde side! This means no Neil Simon, no Tracey Letts, no Beth Henley, no Edward Albee, no Lorraine Hansberry, no Yasmina Reza, and so on. Got it? Good.
• Are you a budding playwright? Your monologue can be an original piece of work! Or if you are unsure and need some assistance, please contact us at playersguildmarketing@gmail.com and one of our team will reach out to you.
• Wear your pajamas! Please nothing revealing or risqué. It’s not that kind of show.
• Please try to keep your monologue to a running time of two (2) minutes, give or take.
• Upload your monologue to https://www.dropbox.com/request/1OTRtfc4dCL7KrLRZ9mP
• Email playersguildmarketing@gmail.com once you’ve submitted. Include all pertinent information: your name, the character you are performing, the show name, and the author(s).
• Your monologue does not need to be memorized, but should be rehearsed. Don’t let the first time the camera rolls be the first time you’ve said it out loud.
• We prefer the video to be horizontal, if possible — make sure to prop up your recording device so you’re not holding it. We also suggest checking the angle and doing a test recording to make sure you look your best. Shoot either straight on, or have the device slightly higher than you for the best results.
• We may not be able to use every submission. We are looking for a quality performance — show us your acting chops!
• The performance list will be posted within two days of the end of the submission window.
Up for the challenge? Then get into your best jammies and get into character! We look forward to seeing you!
Guidelines for Guildlings
That’s right, we are planning two awesome nights of Guildlings performances for July!
Teen Cabaret — Sunday, July 19, 2020
• Submissions due July 1, 2020, 11 PM EST

Junior Cabaret — Sunday, July 26, 2020

There is no theme at all to these Cabarets — we just want you to find a song that you love from a musical that you love, and sing it! We have some rules we need you to follow, but the most important rule is to have fun:
• Junior Guildlings — ages 6 – 13
• Teen Guildlings — high school (so, if you are going to be a freshman this fall, or if you graduated in May!)
• We know this is a bummer, but you can’t sing a Disney song 🙁
• There are no costumes allowed (for example, if you were going to sing a song from Madagascar, you cannot dress up as an animal), but you CAN be creative with what you wear. If you have questions, ask us or your parents!
• No logos from the show are allowed in your video either.
• We would love to get the whole family involved. As long as someone in your household is Guildlings-age, the rest of the family is invited as well — that means parents, baby siblings, and the family dog are all welcome!
• You can also do a duet, trio, etc. with your friends. Make sure to follow any guidelines in place regarding social distancing that are in place at the time you record.
• We prefer the video to be horizontal, if at all possible — make sure to prop your recording device up so you’re not holding it. We also suggest checking the angle and doing a test recording to make sure you look your best. Shoot either straight on, or have the device slightly higher than you for the best results! Make sure to ask your parents for help if you need it!
• As long as the quality of the video is good, ALL submissions will be used!
Just remember to have fun and sing your heart out — and share with any of your friends that maybe did not know about our Guildlings program. Performers do NOT need to have previously been Guildlings! We can’t wait to hear all your beautiful voices!
