ON OUR STAGE IN OUR 77TH SEASON
January 14-15, 21-23, 28-30, 2005
Produced by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc.
THE SHOW
At the heart of this play is the entwining family of Judge Harry Wilkins, his wife Edith, and their two daughters, Ruth and Miriam. Using the name of her elder sister (an enclosing Ruth’s photo), Miriam carries on a romantic correspondence with an overseas soldier during WWII. Amusing from the outset, the real fun begins when the love-struck soldier arrives on the family’s doorstep, thoroughly in love and eager to marry his pen pal but finds that his distant lover is already engaged. Through a series of hilarious complications and plot twists, Ruth begins to rethink her original engagement and considers marrying the soldier anyway. Who will she choose?
