The Players Guild of Dearborn collaborates with several organizations, groups, and efforts throughout the Michigan community.
The Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs. In 2014, the Guild submitted a grant proposal to the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA). As a state agency, MCACA is instrumental in the promotion and development of a strong arts presence in Michigan. The Guild grant proposal was for a capital improvement grant to upgrade our sound system. We received a $5,689 matching grant for this request. In 2015, the Guild submitted a proposal to upgrade our fly line system. We were very fortunate in receiving a grant award of $11,250, again requiring matching funds, for this request. We are grateful to the State of Michigan for the recognition of the need for a vibrant arts presence throughout the state.
The Dearborn Chamber of Commerce. The Guild has been a member since 1999 and, in 2007, received recognition from the Chamber for 80 years of service to the community.
The Dearborn Community Arts Council (DCAC). The Guild participates with this group in an effort to encourage and support the arts in the Dearborn area.
Dearborn Area Theater Association (DATA). The Guild is a charter member of this organization which unites area community theaters and area high school theater programs. DATA annually produces the PAGE Awards, a program for awarding outstanding theater performances and productions through an adjudication process. The Guild also supports DATA’s scholarship program for high school seniors who intent to pursue performing arts programs in college.
Community Theater Association of Michigan (CTAM). The Guild is a long-time member of this organization which unites the many Michigan community theaters in mutual support.
Dearborn Public Schools. The Guild reaches out to the Dearborn Public Schools with information about Guild productions and performances. Over the years, the Guild has provided opportunities for children who attend Salina Intermediate School to attend special performances of Guild productions.
Neighborhood Service Organization (NSO). Since 2009, the Guild has partnered with NSO (a multi-faceted non-profit agency based in Detroit) in the production of the Starshine Children’s Theater Workshop. The partnership provides children, teens, and adults with development disabilities an opportunity to participate in a week-long theater workshop. The workshop culminates in a Starshine Theater production that is presented free of charge to the public.
Dearborn Area Service Clubs. The Guild has partnered with many of Dearborn’s service organizations over the years, including the Dearborn Outer Drive Kiwanis Club, the Dearborn Optimist Club, and the Dearborn Exchange Club. These groups have dedicated volunteer and financial resources to support Guild productions and programs.
Area Businesses. Many area businesses have supported the Guild through sponsorship of Guild productions and advertisements in Guild playbills.
Special Fund Raising Events. The Guild has worked with local organizations to support their fund raising efforts. Recent activities have supported Meghan’s Miracles and Mayor Michael Guido Fund for Pancreatic Cancer Research at the Karmanos Cancer Institute.
The Guild Family. The Guild’s most important community is comprised of its members. Friends have become new members, and new members become friends. All Guild members come together to support fellow Guild members who needs help, support, encouragement, or a prayer.
