Before my rehearsal last night I watched Kathleen Duffy (Nellie Forbush) and the Womens’ Ensemble practicing “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair.” It’s going to be a terrific number. Kathleen is wonderful as Nellie and the women have tremendous voices that blend very well. Brian has blocked the show in ways that will draw as much comedy out of the story as possible. When it comes to comedy, Brian is a genius.
We also got to see the scene where Mike Moseley (Emile de Beque) proposes to Nellie. That is also going to be a wonderful scene as they sing the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic, “Some Enchanted Evening.”
